Quakerism came to the Crawshawbooth area about 1668. No suffering was inflicted on the first group and many were well received. Initially, Friends (Quakers) met in homes. In 1716, Friends built the Crawshawbooth Meetinghouse. They added the current meeting room a little later. The Meetinghouse has been used as a day school. The first Quaker Sunday School was started here towards the end of the 18th century.
